The ATECO codes for businesses that will reopen on May 4th have been released in the government document. That date marks the beginning of the announced Phase 2, outlined yesterday evening by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte , during which numerous businesses will be able to reopen. Phase 2 will be divided into three dates: May 4th, May 18th, and June 1st. Let's take a closer look at what will be possible during each of these dates.
The Phase 2 calendar
April 27: Exports and Construction Sites. Production and industrial activities aimed at exports, plus construction sites for prisons, schools, healthcare facilities, public housing, and defense against hydrogeological instability. Precautions to be taken include: temperature checks before entering the construction site; limited access to cafeterias and changing rooms; daily cleaning and periodic sanitization of common areas. Wholesale trade, which serves the aforementioned export and construction sectors, also restarts today. May 4: Travel within your region . From May 4, travel within your region of residence is permitted, but " only if motivated by proven work-related needs, situations of necessity, or for health reasons ." Travel to other regions requires " proven work-related needs, absolute urgency, or health reasons ." Visits to "relatives" are permitted, "as long as the ban on gatherings and social distancing are respected and masks are worn ." Family reunions are prohibited. May 4: Manufacturing Activities and Private Construction Sites. Starting May 4th, all manufacturing , textile, fashion, automotive, glass, and construction activities will resume; wholesale trade and private construction sites will also restart. In anticipation of May 4th, the government is urging companies to prepare suitable work environments, in compliance with the new safety protocols. May 4th: Takeout and Individual Physical Activity. While waiting for the reopening of bars and restaurants, closed until June 1st, starting May 4th, takeout food will be available for home or workplace consumption. Physical activity (non-group) remotely from home will also be allowed; professional training for individual sports will be allowed, likely starting May 18th for team sports. Parks, villas, and public gardens will reopen (mayors will still be authorized to impose further bans or restrictions). May 4: Funerals are allowed, Masses are banned. The government's decision, which allows funerals to be held for religious ceremonies (no more than fifteen people, wearing masks, and social distancing), is already causing controversy. Masses with the faithful in attendance are on hold, pending an opinion from the Technical Scientific Committee. May 18: Retail. Retail will reopen on the second date scheduled for the calendar, provided they can guarantee the mandatory social distancing between customers (and personal protective equipment for the public). The clear intent is to avoid peak hours, with staggered opening/closing times for different businesses. This means clothing and shoe stores, jewelry stores, and all other retail businesses will be allowed to reopen. May 18: Culture and Collective Physical Activity. Museums will also reopen, with limited entry and social distancing, for those wearing masks. Team sports athletes will be able to return to training. June 1: Bars and Restaurants June 1st is being discussed, and the Italian Federation of Public Establishments has defined a specific safety protocol: one meter of distance between tables, separate entrance and exit doors, preferably digital payments at the table, cleaning and sanitization. Capacity limits will also have to be revised downwards. June 1st: Beauty and Wellness The world of beauty and personal care will reopen on June 1st: hairdressers, barbers, beauty salons, and other personal care businesses will be required to maintain a one-to-one ratio (one worker and one client), in addition to adopting safety measures, with masks, gloves, and appropriately sterilized tools.
